About GameMasterMal

Cinematic, collaborative, and a little lore-obsessed.

I fell into GMing more or less by accident — picked up the screen one session because nobody else would, and never really put it back down. 6 years and countless campaigns later, I still run tables the same way: cinematic and a little dramatic when the story calls for it, but always steered by what the players actually want to do. Ask anyone who's played at my table for their favourite moment and you'll get a different answer every time — there are honestly too many to pick just one.

I've recently started running RuneQuest, weaving mythic, dangerous, and deeply detailed settings where characters live within a world that feels alive and responsive. I focus on the interplay of lore, culture, and personal stakes, making each session feel like a living story.

I'm also highly experienced with D&D 5e, bringing cinematic adventure, strategic encounters, and rich roleplay opportunities to every table. Beyond that, I've run numerous campaigns in Starfinder and the Alien RPG, blending sci-fi tension with player-driven narrative. Recently, I've branched into Call of Cthulhu, exploring horror, mystery, and the creeping dread of the unknown.

How I run a table

The three words my players would use to describe me: lore-driven, adaptable, engaging.

Cinematic

A little dramatic when the moment calls for it — music, lighting, and pacing that make big scenes actually feel big.

Collaborative

Player-driven, always. You steer the story; I'm just there to make sure it goes somewhere brilliant.

Lore-Obsessed

Worlds steeped in history, culture and myth — where the setting itself does narrative work.
